My bank’s website

Proudly proclaims:

St.George reports record interim profit of $502 million, up 11.8%

Meanwhile, I get charged $4.50 for using a non-St. George ATM.

Woo! Up go my shares ;)

But $4.50! DAMN! Commonwealth charge $1.50 and they’ve finally removed all 3rd netbank transfer costs.

it seems you credited me with all the bad photos *glares*

(i took some trying to figure out the camera and im pretty sure budd/selo/someone took some as well)

Ahh, all the big banks in the UK (and in many parts of Europe) have realised that they dont need to charge you for using enemy ATM’s as long as they have your custom. So I can use my HSBC card in pretty much any ATM which (excluding Halifax and a few minor Link ones) and not get charged a eurocent, a cent or even a penny for taking my money out. Plus my account has no fees even though I’m not a student and I even get an overdraw!

Mean while all the banks and still posting profits heading up towards a billion pounds!

  6. Nicko says:

Yeah that’s it, no atm charges.

  7. Josh says:

Mmm. Correction: I was wrong about ATM charges. Apparently they lump them together on your bills, so that was three x 1.50. Phew!

Mark… I remembered giving you the camera when people went inside, and just added that credit to all until I came across one I remembered taking :P Could have been other people too I guess :)

If you have a Multi Access card on yourSt George account you can choose “credit” from third party ATMs and there are no transaction fees

  9. Josh says:

Oh really? That’s pretty cool. I didn’t think you could use that in ATMs… I knew about it as an EFTPOS alternative (and have been using it that way, that’s half the reason I went to St George in the first place!) that was free, but wasn’t aware you could get cash out of ATMs on credit. Still, if that’s possible, awesomeness! Thanks :D

Make sure your bank doesn’t charge you for doing that though. Commonwealth charges 17 – 18% if you withdraw money off your credit card.
