Josh (the blog)

I’ve delivered simple, clear and easy-to-use services for 20 years, for startups, scaleups and government. I write about the nerdy bits here.

Josh’s Odyssey

At first it was conspiring against me getting home (well, actually that wasn’t even the plan yet, it just makes for a nicer classical allusion), but in break with Homer’s version it’s now preventing me from leaving. A flat tyre and a flat battery in under a week? Lame-o.

Another rainbow (same promise)

There’s something about Wednesday afternoons and awesome things happening in the sky.

(Topically) amazing…

Opera Mobile

Opera Mobile is wicked on my new Pocket PC. It’s actually faster than IE seems to be, and I can use this beta for free until the end of the month!

The main attraction is the way it linearises pages so well. I’ll seriously consider paying for it once it comes out of beta…

Oh, and I thought I’d mention that this post is written in it using a supercool 802.11b link! What with that and quad-band GSM/GPRS and Bluetooth flying around, cancer can’t be too far off…

iPaq running Opera Beta

Last post of this sort for a while. I so hope this works for us…

iPaq MSN

iPaq with Windows Mobile 2003 running MSN Messenger

I’ve now joined the tribe of pointless-be-everywhere instant messenging. I only plan on using it when I’ve got 802.11 coverage, because I’m so not paying whatever GPRS rates are for it! Still, all good fun for a couple of days. Then I’ll be asking myself what possessed me to buy such a monstrosity. Ah well.

Addendum: Just checked the cost… apparently it’s $0.20c/minute. I’ve very rarely, if ever, had a conversation on MSN that good. Or at least, not so good that it couldn’t be supplanted by an even quicker/more effective phonecall.
